Warning. Drinking this delicious and simple beverage is good for your health and may make you feel great and increase your daily productivity.
I discovered this delicious and healthful drink by reading the incredible book called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. This is my version of the chia drink that the Tarahumara tribe would drink to keep them energized during their 50 mile+ runs. I say my version because I am not quite sure exactly how they prepared it.
I think it will be good enough to keep you going during your everyday life.
Just to mention a few of the positive things about chia seeds. A great plant based source of protein, omega 3s, fibre, and antioxidants. All in one little seed.
Mix it with some water, lemon or lime juice, and natural sweetener and you have yourself one SUPER drink.
The proportions I used here can be modified to your taste. If you can handle more citrus flavour load up. Lemon is a great detoxifier. you can add more or less sweetener if you like. So give mine a try and adjust if you want. you could even use more chia if you like.
As long as you have these ingredients in your drink you will be getting the benefits of this super drink!
1 tbsp chia seeds
3 tbsp lemon or lime juice (approx. half a lemon)
1/2 0r 1 tbsp agave nectar (to taste)
1 1/2 cups water (preferably filtered)
In a glass mix the chia seeds with the water and give it a good stir.
Let stand for 10 minutes. Chia seeds will become gel like. This is normal.
Add your lemon juice and agave and stir well.
