Making your own almond milk is very easy to do. When you tell people you made your own almond milk they will be amazed. In reality there is nothing to it. The result is well worth the little effort.
What are you waiting for? Give it a try. Stop settling for the store bought stuff on a regular basis and treat yourself to fresh, delicious milk, for your smoothies, cereal, or just for drinking as a tasty beverage.
This is a recipe for a lightly sweetened almond milk. You can make unsweetened almond milk or add more dates to make it even sweeter. You can also try your hand at making flavored almond milk such as vanilla and chocolate if you like. I suggest using raw cocao nibs. Remember there is no perfect recipe. Play with it and have fun.
1 cup almonds, soaked for minumum 4 hours
3 cups filtered water
1 or 2 medjool dates, pitted
pinch of sea salt
In an upright blender combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth. Strain through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth into a big bowl. Squeeze until all the liquid is removed from the mixture.
Pour into a mason jar and store in the fridge.
