Tangy. Sweet. Refreshing. Thirst quenching. Those are the words that come to mind when I drink this fennel lime strawberry smoothie.
It also makes me think of summer even though it’s not very warm in Montreal right now. It’s actually really cold for April 28th.
Although it’s cold out, it is beautiful and I couldn’t be happier. I am sitting in my kitchen, as the sun shines through the windows, and evening begins to set in, sipping on my smoothie, writing this post and listening to music. Warm days are ahead. Days where a refreshing smoothie like this one will be just perfect.
I got this idea from a friend who suggested I try this smoothie . Fennel, lime and water/ice. That’s it. For those brave souls out there I encourage you to give it a try. A detox/purifying smoothie of sorts. I decided to try a slighly sweeter variation to start.
I took the simple combination of lime and fennel and gave it a little strawberry love. Magic. Who doesn’t like a little strawberry love?
I really think that a lot of you will like this smoothie so, give it a try.
Exciting news. First Health is Happiness t-shirt has been made! Check it out below. More to come because I know everybody is going to want one thanks to John Baynton’s awesome design work.
Fennel Lime Strawberry Smoothie
150 g fennel(about 1/2 of a medium fennel bulb)
100 g strawberries (approximately 4)
2 or 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice ( 2 for a sweeater smoothie- 3 for a tangier smoothie)
1 medjool date, pitted
1 cup water
2-3 ice cubes
optional: if the fennel still has leaves on it throw them in a well. The more green the better.
If the strawberries are really sweet you may not even need to put the date.
These are the ingredients for this smoothie. The exact proportions are up to you depending on taste. More fennel, more lime, sweeter or not etc.
Just throw everything in the blender and blend until smooth.
These proportions make one serving so feel free to double it up if you are making for 2 people or more.
