The beginning of a new year is a great time for a greens detox. A great way to do this is by drinking cleansing green smoothies. Many of us ate more over the holidays than we usually do. After all, isn’t that what the holidays are all about? I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, and shared some great food with family and friends.

It is nice to give our systems a break since overeating can be hard on our body. Overeating slows down our system, which means slower elimination and natural detoxification. A greens detox with cleansing green smoothies is a great way to help our bodies with its natural detoxification process and give it the break it needs. Time to rejuvenate for the new year. Many of us have New Year’s resolutions to change the way we eat, and to work at having better health and weight loss goals. Not to worry. I am not saying that you have to go on some crazy cleanse and replace all solid food with smoothies. I am just encouraging you to drink a (green) smoothie a day. How Do You Make A Green Smoothie?

How do you make a green smoothie?

Stop pretending you don’t want to make green smoothies at home.  It’s ok to be weirded out by it at first. It’s nomal. I was too. Greens? In a blender? No way.

YES!!! Greens in a blender! And it tastes damn good too. Trust me. I’m a picky eater and I love green smoothies.

For all of you who have never tried to make a green smoothie at home this is for you.

If you have ever thought to yourself “I would like to try to make a green smoothie but am not sure what to do”, now is the time,  Go and get yourself some frozen strawberries, a banana, some spinach and some water and throw it in the blender. Boom. Green smoothie. That easy.

Don’t put it off any longer.

Just do it. Throw the goodness in the blender and turn it on. It’s easy, tastes good and is really good for you.

Spinach Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie

1 banana

5 strawberries (frozen or fresh if in season)

1 bunch of spinach, ends of stalks removed

1 or 1 1/2 cups of water

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Amount of water used will depend on your preference for a thicker or thinner consistency of smoothie.
