Chocolate, mmmmmm! Everybody loves it, well, almost everybody. I certainly do.

Chocolate comes in many many different forms. Some good, some, not so much.

People love to grab a chocolatey snack in the afternoon. Some people grab a Kit kat, and some people, like myself, grab one of these chocolate almond energy balls.

This is a much healthier option of course, and a whole different type of delicious.

Spiced Tropical Fruit Superfood Smoothie

Stop what you are doing. Right now. Go make this smoothie. Seriously. I love the flavour of the cardamom with the mango, and orange. Not to mention the creaminess that the hemp seeds bring.

Are you wondering what maca is? I didn’t know about it either until about two years ago when I read the Thrive by Brendan Brazier. That was the book that really got me into whole food plant based eating. I discovered a whole bunch of delicious foods thanks to Brendan.

Healthy Post Workout Smoothie; Orange Hemp Maca Smoothie Recipe

The gym used to be a huge part of my life.  From the age of 17-27 I went to the gym religiously several times a week, and I loved it.  I couldn’t imagine my life without the gym.  Going to the gym wasn’t something I had to force myself to do, it was something I did with pleasure, because it made me feel great.

Then, I discovered yoga.  Over the past 2 years, yoga seems to have taken over from the gym.  During the first year I was practicing yoga I still went to the gym on and off, but yoga changed the way I felt about the gym and it slowly started to take over.

The last time I went to a gym was over a year ago, and then today I went back.  I had stopped going completely after  breaking my elbow, and then going back too soon for my elbow, which was still giving me pain in the gym.  When I tried to go back to the gym, I could still feel pain in my elbow so decided to give it more time.  During this time yoga became an even bigger part of my life, and now I couldn’t imagine my life without yoga.  Community is a very important part of life.  Surrounding yourself with like minded people who share many of the same values as you is really nice.

What is a smoothie?

What is a smoothie?  There are endless different ingredients that can come together to make delicious and nutritious smoothies.

In this first instalment of my “what is a smoothie” series I show you how to make a creamy mango cashew maca smoothie.

I made this smoothie because I wanted a smoothie where I could really taste the mango. I love mango and sometimes their amazing tastes gets lots in my green smoothies.

If you like mangos you will love this smoothie. Let me know what you think.

Creamy Mango Cashew Maca Smoothie

1/4 cup cashews
1 mango
1 1/2 cups almond milk
1 teaspoon maca

Heavenly Raw Chocolate & Mint Smoothie

If you love chocolate you are going to love this smoothie. I just tried this for the first time and wow. What a treat. A healthy treat at that. It is by no means a low fat or sugar free treat. However it contains healthy fats and natural sugars. So treat yourself and nourish your body at the same time.
