Mango Peach Coconut Water Smoothie

I know what you are thinking? “Is this smoothie as delicious as it looks and sounds?” Well, the answer is yes. It’s lip smacking good. It’s a mango peach coconut water smoothie. Of course it’s amazing!

With only 3 ingredients, it is very simple. Sometimes we get carried away when making smoothies, throwing everything and the kitchen sink into the blender, hoping to get as much into our smoothie as possible. If you do this, you know exactly what I am talking about. It isn’t always the best approach.

When you have exerted a lot of energy, and sweat a ton, the first thing your body needs is to replenish its glucose stores, and electrolytes. What better way to do this than with a delicious fruit and coconut water smoothie! Try drinking a smoothie like this one as soon as possible after your next workout, then follow up with a well balanced meal about 45 minutes to an hour later. Continue reading

Peach Mango Kale Green Smoothie

If you forced me to tell you what my 2 favourite fruits were, I would have to answer peaches and mangos. I love eating them on their own, but I also love a peach or mango smoothie. Or, in this case, combining the two, throwing in some greens and bam! You have yourself a sweet green smoothie.

Peach season is upon us! That time of year here in Montreal where Ontario peaches are everywhere, at markets and grocery stores. Makes me so happy to see them back. What is sad is how quickly they disappear and remind me that summer is coming closer to an end. A bittersweet feeling since fall is one of my favourite seasons.

Orange Mango Lemon Smoothie

Good Morning and Happy Easter! I spent yesterday afternoon whipping up some smoothies at lululemon athletica on Ste-Catherine street here in Montreal.   The event was a blast!  I met all different types of really nice and interesting people, as I always do at events like these.  I always love hearing about other peoples smoothie making experiences and what they like to put into their smoothies.

I made 2 smoothies yesterday.  One of them was an Orange Mango Lemon Smoothie and the other was the incredibly popular Banana Nut Butter Smoothie made with almond butter, raw cacao nibs, almond milk, coconut water, and dates.  I loved seeing peoples reaction when they tried this smoothie.  They were pleasantly surprised.  Consensus is people like Chocolate! Was there any doubt in the first place?  The good news is, that even though the Banana Nut Butter Smoothie tastes incredibly naughty, it is good for you!  So if you are in the mood for a treat, go ahead,  you deserve it!

The Orange Mango Lemon Smoothie was also very well received.  Which is why I woke up this morning and made it again so I could share the recipe since it’s not up on my site yet.  People were continuously asking for the recipe so here it is! Continue reading

Healthy Dessert for Breakfast? – Mango Cinnamon Chia Seed Pudding

Breakfast. Dessert. Snack. This mango cinnamon chia seed pudding is perfect for all of them. It is so good for you that it makes for a great breakfast or mid-day snack/treat. It also tastes so good that it can be an awesome dessert. Pudding for breakfast? Hell ya. I know many people who would smile at the thought of dessert for breakfast, but don’t do it because they know it’s not the healthiest idea. Well smile away my friends. Smile away. This pudding recipe is nothing but good for you, and nothing but AWESOME.

The different flavour combinations for chia pudding are endless. I happen to love mango and cinnamon! I have made chocolate coconut chia pudding before as one example. You can use any fruit you like. Strawberry chia pudding. Yummy! Maybe even strawberry and mango together, or strawberry and chocolate. Now we are getting somewhere. You see my point. Get creative!

Mango Orange Lemon Cashew Vanilla Smoothie Inspired by Crudessence

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. January 2nd means back to work and back to reality for many of us. Whether your New Year’s resolution involves changing your diet and lifestyle to improve your health, or not, you will love this smoothie. It is healthy as well as a treat for your taste buds. Really, it is amazing. Start the new year off right with this “sun kiss” smoothie.

This creamy, sweet and refreshing smoothie is made with mango, orange, lemon, cashews, vanilla and water. It is our version of a smoothie they make at Crudessence here in Montreal called the Sun Kiss smoothie. I personally have never tried it at the restaurant, but it is one that Natalie has tried and loves. After having made our own version of it I understand why.

It is ridiculously good. Honestly. It really is like a glass full of smiles. This is great in the winter as well as in the summer. Give our version a try as well as the original Sun Kiss smoothie at Crudessence, if you live in Montreal. I will definitely be giving their version a try in the near future.

The citrus blast from the orange and lemon combined with the sweet mango, the creaminess of the cashews, and the beautiful real vanilla flavour is magical. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. We used a yellow mango. Make sure the mango is sweet. This can definitely make or break your smoothie.

“Sun Kiss Smoothie” Recipe

1 orange
1 mango
juice of 1 lemon (about a 1/4 cup)
1/4 cup cashews, soaked for 30 mins
1/2 vanilla pod, or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup water

Combine in an upright blender and blend until smooth. Adjust amount of water until desired consistency is obtained.

Mango, Raspberry, Carrot Top Green Smoothie Recipe

I bet that if you have ever bought carrots with the green tops still attached you have thrown them out.  Am I right?  Did you even ever consider eating them?

In case some of you didn’t know carrot greens are loaded with nutrients.  They are rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, even more than their sweet roots.  For example, carrot greens contain 6 times more vitamin C than carrots.  They are also a great source of potassium and calcium.

Like all leafy greens they are loaded with chlorophyll, which has been noted to purify the blood, lymph nodes and adrenal glands. Continue reading

What is a smoothie?

What is a smoothie?  There are endless different ingredients that can come together to make delicious and nutritious smoothies.

In this first instalment of my “what is a smoothie” series I show you how to make a creamy mango cashew maca smoothie.

I made this smoothie because I wanted a smoothie where I could really taste the mango. I love mango and sometimes their amazing tastes gets lots in my green smoothies.

Creamy Mango Cashew Maca Smoothie

1/4 cup cashews
1 mango
1 1/2 cups almond milk
1 teaspoon maca

Mango Raspberry Romaine Green Smoothie

This mango raspberry romaine green smoothie is amazing for several reasons. The first 2 reasons are obvious. It tastes great and is really good for you.

What I think is great about this smoothie is that it is perfect for people who have never tried and/or made a green smoothie before.

Romaine doesn’t have as strong a taste as some other greens like kale, collard greens, or dandelion greens. Its flavour is present in the smoothie, however it is a familiar one to most people and one that is not overpowering. Continue reading
